If you are looking for a fitter with a certain toolset, below is a list of the main fitting tools we have. What gets used depends on the situation the fitter is dealing with. Tools help a bike fitter do a good job. The tools and technology don’t do the fitting, they just provide a method to get data or make changes – which then needs interpretation and validation – which is the skill of a bike fitter.
XY Size Cycle, with Computrainer load unit, by Purely Custom
A mechanically adjustable size cycle for setting up and testing fit positions. Used for all pre-purchase fit sessions and most tri bike fitting. Also used for saddle testing and crank length testing.
Body Measurement Tools by Fit Kit Systems
Your morphology (skeletal proportions) provide important insights into your relationship to a bicycle.
For giving visibility into pressure distribution and hot spots on a saddle while you are riding. Useful for helping diagnose and validate saddle discomfort and evaluating changes to saddle position or the saddle itself.
Bike Measurement Tools by Fit Kit Systems and Purely Custom
For documenting where your contact points are on the bike frame. Can be used for reassembly of your bike after travel.
Video Analysis Software by Kinovea
For overlaying joint angle analysis over a video file.
Other tools used
- Computer:Gaming level laptop for its graphics processing capacity for recording and replaying video and running motion capture systems.
- Big Screen: 32” screen for showing your video feed and pressure map results, as well as keeping you motivated with exciting cycling images!
- Video Cameras: Mostly used for postural coaching and before/after comparison. Can be used for video analysis.
- Rotational Adjustment Device (RAD): A precision diagnostic tool for setting cleat rotation to prevent knee issues.
- Adjustable Width Road Bar: For testing different road bike handlebar widths.
- Adjustable Stem: for testing stem length and angle and the impact on rider position
- Adjustable Crank: for real world testing of different crank lengths. Can be installed on the rider’s own bike.
- Morphic Scanning System: for 3D foot scanning for ordering Lore shoes
